Recent transaction experience – Oakley Capital
- In November 2010, Oakley Capital acquired a 84.4% stake in BDO Investment Management (“BDOIM”) in a transaction that valued BDOIM at an enterprise value of c. £14 million
- BDOIM offers private client financial planning and wealth management services, corporate pensions and benefit services, and asset management services under the Fitzwilliam banner. On closing, it had c. £2 billion of funds under management and advice
- In addition, our role included a review of the attractiveness of the UK wealth management market and of specific investment opportunities
- David Pitman, the former CEO of Close Wealth Management, was appointed as the new chief executive as part of the transaction
- BDO retains a 15.6% interest in the operation as there will be continuing links due to their tax planning and other expertise
“Oakley engaged Asgard due to their knowledge and understanding of the wealth management sector. Their advice and contacts proved very valuable in the evaluation of the market opportunity and of BDO Investment Management itself.”
